The Lady Mavs won their third in a row Thursday night with a 75-71 win over Connors. The Lady Mavs are now 3-4 in conference play and 7-11 on the year.
The NOC Lady Mavs has to rally in the game's final five minutes to upend Connors and win their third straight.
NOC trailed Connors 65-64 with 5:05 left when the Lady Mavs went on an 11-6 run to end the game.
Rebekah Hissam's 3-pointer gave NOC a 67-65 lead, then Sabela Reigosa's short jumper and two Tahanee Bennell free throws gave NOC a 71-65 lead.
After Connors cut the lead to 71-67, Bennell hit two free throws to extend the lead to 73-67 and then two more late free throws with :04 left to clinch the 75-71 win.
"We managed to adjust the slower tempo at the end of the game and make some big plays down the stretch," said head coach Greg Krause. "It's a good sign that we are finishing these close games better."
Hannah Nealis led NOC with 19 points while Hissam and Bennell added 16 points each.
NOC trailed the Cowgirls 20-16 in the first but opened the second quarter with a 13-4 run to take a 29-24 lead. Alyssa Cox led the run scoring seven straight points in the run.
After Connors took a 30-29 lead, NOC then went on a 9-2 run to take a 38-32 lead.
Connors then took a lead at the 5 minute mark before NOC began their game winning rally.
