Lady Mavs blast Redlands 77-50

The NOC Lady Mavs blasted Redlands 77-50 in conference play Wednesday at Foster Piper Fieldhouse.

The Lady Mavs improved to 5-11 and 1-4 in conference play.

The Lady Mavs dominated the first four minutes of Thursday's behind hot early shooting.

NOC jumped out to a 12-0 lead with two 3-pointers from Hannah Nealis and one from Tahanee Bennell.

NOC's pressure defense affected the Lady Cougars all night forcing numerous turnovers.

"We sustained solid defense for four quarters and scored with more consistency in the second half," said head coach Greg Krause.  "It was a good conference win against a team that has been playing well. We want to continue to build from this effort through a tough conference schedule."

NOC built a double figure lead but did stave off one Redlands rally in the second half as Redlands cut a 41-28 lead to 41-36 with an 8-0 run.

But NOC quickly answered the Redlands run with a 13-3 run of their own to build a 54-39 lead.  Bennell had six points in the NOC run.  She led NOC with 21.

NOC then put the game away with a 23-11 fourth quarter.

Nealis added 13 while Rebekah Hissam, Sabela Reigosa Pernas and Chideyah Guyton had 10 points each.
