PIEDMONT, Oklahoma -- NOC Tonkawa dropped its opener in the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament to Eastern 10-2 on Thursday at Piedmont.
The 7th seeded Mavs were outhit 10-3 by the 2nd seeded Mountaineers.
Tonkawa scored single runs in the 3rd and 4th innings.
In the 3rd, Fayth Hoover scored on a ground out by Ryllie Shipp and in the 4th inning, Hoover doubled home Allison McGowan for the Mavs' second run.
Jordan Johnson, Ashlyne Roblyer, and Shiloh Roberson worked for the Mavs in the circle allowing 10 runs on 10 hits.
The Mavs (13-34) now face NOC Enid in an elimination game Thursday at 11 a.m.
