Monahwee homers twice in Mavs sweep of Rose

DEL CITY, Oklahoma --  Kyia Monahwee cranked home runs in two Northern Oklahoma College wins over Rose State Sunday in Oklahoma City.

NOC won the first game 5-2 and the night cap 3-1 in extra innings.

NOC (36-16) improved to 18-10 in Region 2 while Rose State (20-24) fell to 10-18 in Region 2.

The two blasts gives Monahwee 14 home runs on the year and 56 runs batted in.

Mavs 5, Rose 2

NOC trailed Rose State 2-0 in the 5th when the Mavs' bats came alive. 

Monahwee's two run blast scored Aylin Nunez and then Rachel Rumsey gave the Mavs a 5-2 lead with a three runs shot scoring Madison Kettler and Emily Poindexter.

That's all Taylor Lane (17-8) would need as the sophomore allowed two runs on six hits.  She struck out 13 Rose State hitters.

Mavs 3, Rose 1 (8 innings)

The Mavs scored three runs in the 8th inning to beat Rose 3-1 in extra innings and sweep the doubleheader.

In the 8th with the game scoreless, Nunez singled and scored on Monahwee's second home run of the day.  Then Kendall Heisler doubled home Poindexter and NOC led 3-0.

Jenna Chassie (18-6) was efficient in the circle allowing one run on nine hits while striking out two.
