MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- For the second time in a week, the NOC Mavericks shut out #20 NEO 3-0, this time in the first round of the Region II Tournament at Midwest City Friday afternoon.

NOC (25-27) used another outstanding pitching performance from freshman Taylor Lane who allowed just five NEO hits.

Lane danced out of trouble in the third allowing no runs after NEO loaded the bases with no one out.  Lane induced a foul out and pop up before a fly ball to Baylee Scrimshire ended the inning.

Again, NEO threatened in the sixth with the first two hitters reaching base but Lane got out of the jam with a line out snared by Jakayla Whitney.

The Mavs picked up two runs in the second when Whitney scored on a Liz McKellip single and Morgan Rohwer scored on an error off the bat of Scrimshire.

NOC added an insurance run in the fourth when Rohwer walked and later scored on a Kendall Heisler single.

NOC's winners bracket game Saturday is against the Rose State-Connors winner at 10 a.m.
