Mavs drop twin bill to NOC Enid

ENID, Oklahoma -- The NOC Mavericks Softball dropped a pair of close games to rival NOC Enid Sunday afternoon at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

The Mavs (20-21) fell 4-2 and 7-6 in eight innings to the Jets (26-17)

In Game 2, the Mavs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and led 6-4 heading to the home half of the seventh.

The Jets then rallied for two in the seventh to tie the game at 6-6 and then scored the go-ahead run in walk-off fashion in the eighth on a bases loaded walk by Lindsi Spring scoring Kamber Leforce.

Madi Baughman had two hits for the Mavs including a double and two runs batted in.  Liz McKellip and Savanah Mundell also doubled for NOC Tonkawa.

Kaitlyn Stark had three hits for NOC Enid while Courtlyn Head had two hits and three runs batted in.

Jakayla Whitney started for the Mavs in the circle with relief help from Baughman and Taylor Lane.

Brooklyn Sparkman was the starter for NOC Enid with Spring pitching two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.

In Game 1, the Mavs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but lost 4-2.

Baughman and Morgan Rohwer had doubles for the Mavs while Lexi Vargas had two hits for the Jets.

Lane and Spring battled on the mound each throwing a complete game.  Each allowed seven hits with Spring earning the win in the circle.
