Mavs earn split with Eastern

The NOC Maverick Softball team rallied with six runs in the final two innings to earn a split in a doubleheader with Eastern.

NOC (17-14) won the night cap 8-4 after dropping the first game 11-9.

Trailing 4-2 in the fifth inning of Game 2, the Mavericks scored three runs in the fifth and sixth.  Farrah Bonds had three hits while Morgan Rohwer had a single and double scoring two runs and driving home three runs.

Rylee Turman added a triple and single with two runs batted in.

Madi Baughman earned the win out of the Mavs bullpen tossing 4.1 innings allowing four hits striking out one.

In Game 1, the Mavs led 7-2 until the fifth when Eastern scored six runs taking an 8-7 lead.

NOC then took the lead with two runs in the sixth to take a 9-8 lead.  That lead was short lived as Eastern rallied for three runs in the seventh to take an 11-9 lead.

Savannah Mundell and Jakayla Whitney had two hits each for the Mavs. 

NOC took the lead late when Madi  Baughman singled and then Alicia Maker, running for Baughman, scored on a Morgan Rohwer double.  Rohwer then scored on a Jordan Graham ground out.

The Mavs couldn't hold the lead when Eastern rallied in the seventh.
