Mavs plate 24 in win over Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Kansas -- The NOC Mavs exploded for 24 runs against Independence Saturday salvaging a split in a non-conference softball doubleheader.

NOC (13-8) won the second game 24-12 after dropping the first game 5-3.

In Game 2, the Mavs scored eight runs in the first inning and scored in four of the five innings played.

Farrah Bonds had four hits to lead an 18 hit attack.  Savanah Mundell had three hits including a home run and four rbi's.  Jordan Graham also had three hits and four rbi's.

Jackayla Whitney picked up the win in the circle for the Mavs allowing three earned runs on three hits in three innings.

In Game 1, Independence scored four runs in the fourth and made it stand up in a 5-3 win.

NOC out hit Independence 9-3, Mundell, Bonds and Keylee Kirk had two hits each.   Bonds homered for the Mavs.

Jordan Lane took the loss in the circle allowing five earned runs on five hits.
