Heisler, Bonds home runs lead NOC to split with Indian Hills

The NOC Mavericks Softball Team split a doubleheader with Indian Hills Thursday afternoon winning the night cap 8-7 after losing the opener 11-0.

The Mavs are now 3-1 on the year.

In Game 2, freshman Kendall Heisler hit a grand slam and Farrah Bonds a three-run blast to power NOC to an 8-7 win over Indian Hills.

Heisler's blast came in the 4th scoring Savanah Mundell, Rylee Turman and Morgan Rohwer all scored to give NOC a 4-2 lead.

Bonds blast came in the 5th scoring Madi Baughman and Mundell giving NOC a 7-3 lead.

NOC then added a run in the 6th when Jakayla Whitney walked and later scored on a Baughman ground out.  That insurance run gave NOC an 8-3 lead which they would need as Indian Hills rallied to cut the lead to 8-7 in the 7th.

Taylor Lane went the distance in the circle allowing six earned runs on 10 hits.  She struck out six and walked four.

In Game 1, the Mavs were shutout 11-0.  Madi Baughman and Morgan Rowher pitched for the Mavs.  Baughman and Whitney had the two NOC hits.

The Mavs host Independence on Feb. 14 in a double header starting at 1 p.m.
