Mavericks Back On Track

Mavericks Back On Track

Northern broke their losing streak in a big way topping USAO JV 5-1 on a perfect day in Tonkawa.  The Mavericks have been having problems scoring goals lately, but opened the scoring just two minutes into the game when Rojay Smith found the net.  Northern goalkeeper, Bryson Reed, picked up the assist with a great long ball played right over the top of the USAO defense.  USAO came back to tie the game in the fifth minute after intercepting a pass from the Mavs and blasting a long shot into the upper corner.  Rojay Smith scored again late in the half to put the Mavericks up 2-1.  Smith would complete the hat trick just before half-time putting Northern up 3-1 at the half.

Prince Dom Afriyie started the scoring in the second half.  Jose Mota drove a long shot off of the crossbar that looked to have bounced into the goal past the line, but the referee ruled that the ball did not cross the line.  It didn't matter though because Afryie was right there to head the ball in to the goal.  Jason White would finish the scoring after taking a pass from Victor Bernall.

The Mavs next game will be Sunday, September 17th at 7:00 at NEO A&M.
