Gifty Ayew Asare is the NOC Women Soccer Player of the Week.  In the season opener last Friday against Blue River, she scored five goals and had one goal and one assist in NOC's 3-2 upset win over Butler Sunday night.

  "Gifty is our reference in the attack this year, said coach Juan deDios Castillo.  "She is a strong and smart player on field and a very kind person off the field. She loves NOC and her teammates, probably more than what we can imagine."

  She scored 23 goals as a freshman.

  She is from Ghana.

  The NOC Men's Soccer Player of the Week is Darrion Wilson, freshman forward from Tulsa.

  Darrion Wilson had fantastic debut for the Mavericks scoring three goals and adding an assist in Northern's 9-2 win over Blue River College last Friday.

  Darrion scored the Mavs second, third, and fourth goals.  The second goal came right before the half breaking a 2-2 tie and regaining the Maverick momentum going into halftime.  His third goal came a minute into the second half and essentially put the game away.
