Brandon Gossett is in his first year as the NOC Mavs head coach.

Gossett comes to NOC after serving as an assistant coach for the Kansas City Kansas Community College Blue Devils the past two seasons.

Gossett has seven years of experience at the college level.  In two seasons at KCK, the Blue Devils were 40-23 while in his first season at KCK, Gossett helped the team to a 21-10 record, coaching four all Jayhawk Conference honorees. This was the first time the Blue Devils have reached 20 wins in seven years.

Before coming to Kansas City, Gossett was an assistant at Emporia State University apart of the MIAA, where he helped the Hornets to an 11-12 record overall, in a shortened season due to COVID. The Hornets increased their conference wins from four in 2019 to eleven in 2020, in Gossett one season as an assistant.

During his stint at North Central Missouri College in Trenton, Mo. As the lead assistant at NCMC, Gossett helped lead the Pirates to an NJCAA Division II national tournament berth in 2019-20. Along the way NCMC won the NJCAA Region XVI and District XII championships while being ranked #1 in the country for seven weeks. The Pirates set a school record going 27-3, before the NJCAA tournament was shut down due to COVID.

Prior to his time at NCMC, the Aurora, Ill. Native spent one season as an assistant at Peru State College in Nebraska. He helped the Bobcats to a 23-11 record and a trip to the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Tournament at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

Gossett got his start in coaching at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Ill. During his two seasons at RVC, the Golden Eagles went 50-15 while being ranked in every NJCAA Division III national poll.
 
Gossett was a part of the men’s basketball team as a student-athlete at both Lakeland University (WI) and Eureka College (ILL), Gossett graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice in 2016. Gossett also is a Graduate of Chadron State where he earned his Master’s in Organizational Management. Gossett is a native of Aurora, Illinois where he attended West Aurora High School playing for Illinois Hall of Fame coach Gordie Kirkman.
