In a game that went to the final possession, the Mavs fell to Redlands 73-72 Monday night.
After taking a 36-33 lead into the dressing room, neither the Mavs or Cougars had more than a three point lead until Redlands broke a 57-57 tie with a 6-0 run to build a 63-57 lead.
NOC then rallied with a 9-2 run to take a 66-65 with 2:50 left. Redlands scored back to back baskets to take a 71-67 lead before the Mavs cut it to 71-70 on an Anthony Ignowski 3-pointer to cut the lead to 71-70.
After two Redlands free throws made it 73-70 the Mavs scored in the final seconds but lost 73-72.
Tyson Brown led the Mavs with 23 while Ignowski added 17.
Jordan Gorecki had 12 rebounds to lead the Mavs.
NOC (14-14) fell to 6-9 while Redlands (11-18) improved to 3-12 in NJCAA Region 2.
NOC is at NEO Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to complete the regular season.
