The NOC Mavs dropped a tough 112-102 double overtime classic Thursday night to Western at the Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.

Thursday's loss dropped the Mavs to 9-6 on the season and 1-1 in conference play while Western improved to 13-3 and 1-1 in conference.

Javontae Campbell led the Mavs with 38 points while Anthony Ignowski added 27.  James Brown, Jr. tallied 18.

"Our goal was to try and slow Western down at times & at times we were able to do so," said coach Brandon Gossett.  "They have a lot of firepower and hit some tough shots, so hats off to them. We made some costly mistakes turning the ball over in the second overtime but overall, I am happy with our guy's effort and fight. Games like this help you build for March so if we can learn from the loss, it'll serve its purpose"

Campbell's lay-up tied the game at 86-86 sending the game to the first overtime.  The Mavs led early in the first overtime but after Western took a lead, Brown's free throw tied the game at 92-92.  Neither team scored the final 2:12 sending the game to a second overtime.

Campbell gave the Mavs a brief lead in overtime but Western went on a 13-1 run to take the 112-102 victory.
