Mavs drop road game at Murray State

TISHOMINGO, Oklahoma --  The Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks fell to Murray State 79-71 Monday night in Tishomingo.

Omar Boone led a balanced attack with 17 points while Khobe Austin-Johnson added 16, Deon Berrien 11, Deaveon Bankston 11, and Keiodre Perry 10.

Berrien led the Mavs with seven rebounds while Boone and Perry had five assists each.

The final score was deceiving as the game went to the final few possessions with Murray State capitalizing at the line.  The Aggies were 22 of 31 at the line while the Mavs were 11 of 17.

The Mavs (18-11) are 9-6 in the conference race and in third place.

"We had our chances last night," said coach Donnie Jackson.  "Murray just made shots in the second half.  Every time we made a run, they would hit a 3-pointer.  That proved to be the difference."

NOC travels to Western for the final regular season game Thursday.

"I would love to find a way to go to Western and get a win," Jackson added.  "It's a tough place to play but we need to gain some momentum heading into the region tournament."
