Mavs drop road game at Redlands

EL RENO, Oklahoma – The Northern Oklahoma College Maverick men lost to the Cougars 76-70 at El Reno Monday night snapping the Mavs six game winning streak.

 The Mavs are 9-4 in league play and are in third place behind NEO and Connors.

Khobe Austin-Johnson led the Mavs with 18 points while Deon Berrien added 15 and Omar Boone 14.

Deon Berrien had 14 rebounds for the Mavs while Omar Boone had seven assists.

"Really disappointed in our overall energy," said coach Donnie Jackson.  "We didn't have the same juice we've had in our home stretch.  I give credit to Redlands, they wanted the game more than we did."

"We couldn't stop AJ McNeil," Jackson said.  "He had 33 points on 12 of 24 shots.  You count that plus our 17 turnovers and three big possessions where we gave up offensive rebounds and they hit 3-pointers, that makes for a long game."

On Thursday, the Mavs host NEO at 7:30 p.m.

"We have to bounce back quick," he added.  "They have won 13 of 14 and we'll need a lot more juice than we had against Redlands."
