Berrien's double double leads Mavs over Seminole

SEMINOLE, Oklahoma --  Deon Berrien had 18 points and 12 rebounds leading the NOC Mavs to a 73-56 road win over Seminole Thursday night.

Berrien, a sophomore from Augusta, Georgia, added four assists and two steals.

NOC (15-8) improved to 6-3 in league play while Seminole (15-6) fell to 5-4 in the OCAC.

The Mavs held a 37-36 lead at half but dominated the second 20 minutes outscoring the Trojans 36-20.

Sayvon Traylor added 10 points in his first Maverick start.

"This was a big road win for us," said coach Donnie Jackson.  "It was a total team effort, we held them to 20 points in the second half and I truly believe it's from the energy we brought going after rebounds and loose balls.  Seminole is a balanced team and it's hard to key on just one or two guys."

"Our bench was key once again," Jackson added.  "We had four guys in double figures and I hope the guys see that trusting each other and having confidence in one another is fun and that's it's okay to move the ball and let things flow."

Khobe Austin-Johnson and Michael Lee added 10 points each off the Mav bench.

The Mavs host Connors Monday night at 7:30 p.m.

"They (Connors) are playing really well," Jackson said.  "We will need the same energy that we have been playing with to avenge our loss to them at Connors."
