Boone's 41 points leads Mavs over Murray

Sophomore Omar Boone made 11 3-pointers and scored a game and career high 41 points in a 104-85 Mavs rout of Murray State Thursday night.

Boone got plenty of support from Keiodre Perry who had 18 points.  Mike Downing came off the Mav bench with 12 points.

"Omar (Boone) played an extremely high level," said coach Donnie Jackson.  "I can honestly say I've never witnesses anyone make 11 3-pointers.  He is really locked in.  He spends extra time in the gym, he is really becoming a vocal leader and I couldn't be happier for him and his performance."

Boone was 13 of 19 from the field including 11 of 15 from 3-point range.  He broke the old school record of nine set by Brett Weiberg and Brian Reinhardt.

Jackson was pleased the Mavs' offense.

"I thought we did some really good things offensively," he said.  "We moved the ball well, made the extra pass for the open shot and found guys in transition.  Give Murray credit, they kept making shots.  They have guys that can score the ball."

The Mavs could never shake the Aggies until the game's final minutes.  Murray cut a double figure NOC lead to 78-71 in the second half before an 18-2 run put the game away.

Deon Berrien added 10 rebounds while Mike Lee added seven.  Khobe Austin-Johnson had nine assists.

Next up for NOC is a home game with Western on Monday.

"Western is extremely talented," Jackson said.  "They will have shot blockers and big wings.  We will need the same kind of energy and effort on Monday."

NOC (13-8) improved to 4-3 in conference play while Murray State (5-15) dropped to 2-5 in league play.
