Mavs rout Redlands 103-77

Khobe Austin-Johnson and Deon Berrien combined for 41 points in an easy NOC win over Redlands Thursday night at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.

NOC (12-7) improved to 3-2 in conference play.  Redlands (2-17) is 0-6 in league play.

NOC jumped out to a 30-10 lead mid-way in the first half and were never threatened the rest of the way.  The largest NOC lead was 82-45 in the second half.

"I liked how the guys started the game off," said coach Donnie Jackson.  "We got some easy points from our defense and it set the tone for the rest of the half."

"It was good to see Sayvon (Traylor) play well," Jackson added.  "He has the ability to make a big impact for us if he continues to improve.  Khobe (Austin-Johnson) was good for the second straight game and his confidence is really showing."

Traylor, a freshman from Conyers, Georgia, made five 3-pointers and had 17 points.  Michael Lee added 12 and Omar Boone 10 off the Mavs bench.

NOC dominated the glass with a 54-35 rebounding advantage.  Elafayette Stone led the Mavs with 10 rebounds while Deon Berrien had 10.

Berrien was 9 of 15 from the floor while Austin-Johnson was 7 of 13.

NOC travels to Miami Monday night against conference leader NEO.

"Monday is a big road game for us," Jackson said.  "NEO plays a lot of zone and the tempo will be much slower than the past two games.  We will need to ready to execute and defend in a tough environment."
