Lamar scores 29 in win over Kansas City

Trevion Lamar had 29 points and seven rebounds leading Northern Oklahoma College to an 83-64 win over Kansas City Community College Tuesday night at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse in Tonkawa.

Keiodre Perry and Elafayette Stone scored 15 and 10 respectively for NOC (11-5).  Perry led the Mavs in rebounding with eight.  Lamar added five assists.

"This was a good game for us," said head coach Donnie Jackson.  "KCK is a scrappy club that plays hard.  They like to junk it up defensively and slow the pace offensively.  They are also a very physical team.  This was a game we needed to play."

"I thought some of the guys did some good things," he added.  "Obviously Trevion (Lamar) had a great game but (Elafayette) Stone and Omar (Boone) had some really good stretches.  Keiodre (Perry) was aggressive and I hope that carries over into our game on Thursday."

The Mavs jumped out to an early lead over the Blue Devils but couldn't shake the visitors until midway in the second half.

NOC led 40-28 at half before KCK cut the Mavs lead to 54-49 with 10:15 remaining.  The Mavs then went on a 13-2 run to build the lead to 69-51.  KCK rallied again to 70-58 but the Mavs sealed the win with an 11-0 run to take a commanding 81-60 lead.

The Mavs host Missouri-West Plains Thursday night at 7 p.m. and then resume conference play Monday night at Eastern.

"West Plains is extremely talented and pack a lot of offensive punch," Jackson said.
