Mavs have big second half against NOC Enid

ENID, Oklahoma --  The NOC Mavericks (8-4) overcame a slow start to overwhelm NOC Enid 85-64.

Deon Berrien led five Maverick double figure scorers with 17 points while Trevion Lamar and Khobe Austin-Johnson added 15 each.  Michael Lee had 14 while Keiodre Perry added 10.

"I really thought we shared the ball well," said  coach Donnie Jackson.  "We had 20 assists and in the games we win, that's usually the case."

I was extremely proud of our bench," he added.  "Mike Lee and Deaveon Bankston brought a high level of energy to the team and our guys fed off that juice.  It's always a good feeling to get a big road win, especially in conference."

The Mavs led NOC Enid 18-17 late in the first half before going on a 13-6 run to build a 31-23 halftime lead.

Then the Mavs exploded to start the second half hitting 3-pointers on five straight scoring possessions building the lead to 46-28.

The Mavs built the lead to as high as 66-37 in the second half.

NOC Tonkawa is now 2-1 in conference play while the Jets (2-10) fell to 1-2 in conference play.

The Mavs will next be in action at the Indian Hills Classic Dec. 14-15.

Berrien had 10 rebounds for the Mavs while Austin-Johnson had six assists and three steals.

The Mavs had 20 assists on 31 made baskets.
