The Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks won both games in the Maverick Classic by an average of 18 points per game.
NOC (4-1) beat Allen County on Friday 101-88 and then blitzed Cowley College 86-62 on Saturday.
"I feel like we got better this weekend," said head coach Donnie Jackson. "We still have a lot of room for improvement but we showed that we could play hard and have high energy for extended periods of time."
"Our sophomores definitely set the tone for both games," Jackson added. "They were locked in and really wanted to compete. I think that carried over to the efforts of guys subbing in because they had good energy as well. It all started from practice and I hope the guys saw that."
Jackson said the Mavs have a big week upcoming.
"We have a big road stretch against very good teams (Cowley, Ranger (TX), and Fort Scott (KS)," he added. "This will be a good test for our guys to see if they can bring the same intensity and energy on the road like we did at home."
Mavs 101, Allen 88
The Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks gained revenge over Allen County with a 101-88 win Friday night in the Maverick Classic avenging an earlier loss to Allen County in their classic last weekend in Iola, Kansas.
Sophomore Trevion Lamar had 16 points in the first half on his way to a team high 22. Keiodre Perry added 18 while Mike Downing had 13 and Demaree King 10.
NOC built a 34-34 first half lead and then went on a 16-5 run to build a 50-29 edge.
Mavs 86, Cowley 62
The Mavs jumped out to a 16-2 lead and cruised to an 86-62 win over rival Cowley College.
NOC built a 50-29 lead at half behind 15 points from Trevion Lamar. Lamar finished with a game high 19 points.
Keiodre Perry, Demaree King, and Michael Lee each added 12 points.
