Mavs beat Seminole, clinch second place in OCAC regular season

The NOC Mavs sent their sophomores out in style with wins over Seminole in the final home games of the 2017-18 season at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.

The Mav men improved to 23-7 with an 88-77 win over the Trojans.  The Mavs are 12-4 in the OCAC.

Freshman Trevion Lamar led the Mavs with 31 points and 12 rebounds.  Lamar was 11 of 16 from the field and was 4 of 6 from 3-point range.  Amir Allen chipped in with 17 points and five rebounds.

"I thought we started the game off really well," said head coach Donnie Jackson.  "We got off to a good start and sustained that lead throughout the rest of the game.  It's nice to lock up the #2 seed and send Anselm (Uzeugbunem), Amir (Allen) and Brandon (Combs) off on a good note for sophomore night."

"Trevion (Lamar) was pretty special tonight," Jackson added.  "He controlled the game and made big plays every time we needed one."

The Mavs shot 51 percent from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range.

Sophomores Anselm Uzuegbunem, Brandon Combs and Amir Allen played their final home games for the Mavs.

Next up for NOC is the Region 2 Tournament at OBU March 8-10.    The Mavs are seeded 2nd and play the Redlands/Murray winner at 3 p.m. Thursday.
