Mavs bounce back with win over Jets

The results of NOC Bedlam Round 2 were the same as Round 1 as the NOC Tonkawa Mavericks won their rivalry game Thursday night at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse in Tonkawa.

The Mavs improved to 20-5 with a 75-53 win over the Jets.  The Jets fell to 11-9.

NOC Tonkawa are in second place in the conference standings a game behind Connors.

A 39-14 first half run was the difference in the Mavericks win over the Jets.

Trailing 7-6 early in the first half, the Mavs went on a 25-4 run to take a 31-11 first half lead and were never headed in the 22 point win.

"I thought we came out with a lot of energy on both ends of the floor," said head coach Donnie Jackson.  "We were aggressive defensively rotating and flying around and we were attacking offensively and making the extra pass.  That was good team ball and I was proud of our mindset."

Jackson said the Mavs now go on the road for four tough games in a row.

"This will determine quite a bit for our team," he added.  "We will need a tough mindset to go on the road and get conference wins."

Demaree King led the Mavs with 15 while Trevion Lamar added 14 and Khobe Austin-Johnson 11.  Lamar led the Mavs with eight rebounds.
