Mavs beat Next Level Prep, win 8th straight

The NOC Tonkawa Mavericks won their 8th straight Friday with a 107-92 win over Next Level Prep at Foster Piper Fieldhouse.

Friday's win improved NOC's record to 13-3 on the season.

The win was also head coach Donnie Jackson's 100th as the Mavericks head coach.

NOC jumped out to a big lead in the first half against Next Level building a 49-29 halftime lead and cruised to the 107-92 win.

Friday's game was the first after winter break, Jackson said he knew the Mavs would be rusty.

"I'm glad we found a way to the win the game," Jackson said.  "It wasn't the prettiest but we'll take it.  It's good to get a game or two in before region play starts again.  I'm hoping that helps work out some of the kinks out and get our timing back."

"I thought we shared the ball pretty well," he added.  "We just have to get our defensive shape back."

Trevion Lamar led a balanced attack with 23 points while Amir Allen had 21 on 8 of 10 shooting.   Khobe Austin-Johnson had 12 while Omar Boone, Chris Hamil and Demaree King had 11 each.

Anselm Uzuegbunem and Lamar had 11 rebounds to lead the Mavs.  Lamar and Omar Boone had five assists each.

NOC travels to Labette Monday night before hosting Murray State on Thursday in region play.
