Okeene Middle School Summer Cheer Camp

Okeene Middle School Summer Cheer Camp

Northern Oklahoma College cheer squad members Mattie Brooks and Kobe White taught a three day cheer clinic at Okeene Middle School this summer.

The clinic is a fundraiser that Maverick Cheerleaders offer to schools that would like a cheer clinic brought to their school and receive individual coaching that is designed towards the needs of their cheer team.

"Mattie (Brooks) and Kobe (White) are fantastic leaders at Northern and did a great job teaching this cheer clinic this summer," said NOC cheer coach Karri Morrill.

"I had a great time teaching and getting to know the middle school girls from Okeene," Brooks said.  "We learned a few dances and lots of cheers. Also, practice stunts and how to lead the crowd effectively.  On the last day they invited their parents to come to show case what all they had been working on in those few days of camp. I love teaching girls to be open to performing in front of a crowd and seeing how far they have gone."

"I had a great few days teaching the Okeene middle school girls teaching stunts and cheers," White said.  "They learned very fast and they were good listeners and never gave us trouble the whole time. I enjoyed every day teaching them and I'm looking forward to seeing how they do this school year."
