POTEAU, Oklahoma -- Carl Albert jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held off the Mavs 8-3 in Game 1 of a conference doubleheader on Saturday.
Will Johnson and Aidan Zakarewicz had two hits each for the Mavs, both along with Robert Evans had a run batted in.
Aiden Hansen, Kaegan Baker, Grayson Brown, and Collin Berry pitched for the Mavs.
NOC trailed 5-1 early and crept to within 5-3 before the Vikings scored three runs in the fifth.
The Mavs (39-5) fell to 11-4 in league while Carl Albert (25-14) improved to 3-8 in conference.
