Mavs’ baseball routs Rose State in season opener

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- Ben MacNaughton led the season off with a solo home run and the Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks never looked back in a 13-3 rout of Rose State Monday afternoon in Midwest City.

NOC (1-0) out hit the Raiders 13-3.

"Ben (MacNaughton) started us off with a lead-off home run into the wind in left field and our hitters never looked back," said coach Ryan Bay.  "Lots of hard contact up and down the lineup today."

Hayden Priest also homered in the opening inning and had four runs batted in while Jaken Snider joined McNaughton and Priest with two hits each.

Five Maverick hurlers pitched Monday with A.J. Moore and Jacob Ellis going one inning each.  Chase DeFillippo, Blake Hubbard, and Bryson Armstrong tossed two innings each.

The Mavs open the home season Feb. 8-9 with double headers Saturday and Sunday at noon against Northeast (NE) Community College.
