The #13 NOC Mavericks open the Region 2 Tournament Thursday at noon against Carl Albert at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid.

The Mavs (41-14) split a four game series against the Vikings each winning two games at home.

NOC Tonkawa finished in a three way tie for 2nd in the regular season with NOC Enid and Murray State and enters the tourney as the #2 seed.  Carl Albert (19-25) is the 5th seed.

Team leaders for the Mavs include Cale Francis who leads the club hitting .396.  Cacy Harper leads the Mavs with 11 home runs while Joey Pena has 68 runs batted in.  Ben MacNaughton has 46 steals to lead the Mavs and Region 2.

On the mound, Trevin Michael and Ethan Wilson lead the Mavs with eight wins each.  Trevin Michael leads the Mavs with a 2.76 ERA and is second in the league with 74 strikeouts.  Kirby Lohrengel leads the Mavs and Region 2 with six saves.

Other first round match-ups include #11 NOC Enid-Murray State at 3:30 p.m. and #2 Western-Redlands at 7 p.m.

The Tournament runs May 9-12.
