Northern Oklahoma College Maverick sophomores went out with a bang Thursday as the Mavs swept Carl Albert in the final home games for 2019. The Mavs won 4-2 and 8-5 over the Vikings.
NOC (41-12) improved to 12-6 in Region 2 and moved into a 2nd place tie with NOC Enid. The Mavs end the regular season Sunday against Carl Albert in Coweta.
Mavs 4, Carl Albert 2
Austin Glock's two-run triple gave NOC a 4-0 lead and the Mavs coasted to a 4-2 win over Carl Albert.
Glock's hit scored Ben MacNaughton and Joey Pena. NOC scored two runs in the 1st inning when Luke Quick and Dominick Trevino reached base and scored on hits by Cale Francis and Pena.
Trevin Michael (8-1) pitched five innings while Ethan Wilson and Kirby Lohrengel closed out the Vikings. Lohrengel earned his 6th save.
Mavs 8, Carl Albert 5
The Mavs broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the 6th inning and beat Carl Albert 8-5 in Game 2.
Luke Quick and Cale Francis had three hits each while Quick added three runs batted in. Francis had two runs batted in while Cacy Harper had a double and two runs batted in.
Ethan Wilson (8-1) earned the win with 3.1 innings of two hit relief striking out three Viking hitters.
Fourteen Mavs played their final home game including Chase Bridges, Britt Brown, Ashton Francis, Cale Francis, Austin Glock, Eric Gutierrez, Cacy Harper, Tyler Kisner, Kade Marlatt, Trevin Michael, Joey Pena, Luke Quick, Dominick Trevino, and Ethan Wilson.
