In a battle of top 10 teams, 9th ranked Northern Oklahoma College dropped a doubleheader to 2nd ranked Western Thursday at Maverick Field.

The Mavs dropped the opener 10-5 and the nightcap 7-6.

NOC (38-11) fell to 9-5 in Region 2 while Western (41-7) improved to 13-1 in league play.

Western 10, Mavs 5

NOC held a 5-3 lead in the 5th until Western rallied for five runs beating NOC 10-5.

Cacy Harper had three hits including a home run and a double with three runs batted in for the Mavs.

Cale Francis added two singles and two runs batted in as well.

Chase Bridges (3-1) suffered the loss out of the Mavs bullpen in relief of starter Tyler Kisner.  Bridges allowed one earned run and two hits in 1.1 innings.

Western out hit the Mavs 10-5.

Western 7, Mavs 6

The Mavs rallied from 7-0 down but fell to Western 7-6 in Game 2 on Thursday.

NOC trailed Western 7-3 heading to the 9th inning when the Mavs sent nine men to the plate scoring three runs.  Cale Francis singled home Dominick Trevino and then Kade Marlatt singled home Joey Pena cutting the lead to 7-5.

Ashton Francis then doubled home Cale Francis cutting the lead to 7-6 with  two out.  Then after a Luke Quick walk, Ben MacNaughton grounded out to end the game.

Cale Francis had three hits for the Mavs while Pena added two.  Trevino added two runs batted in.

Jaken Snider (4-2) was the starter for the Mavs allowing three earned runs in 2.2 innings.
