CHICKASHA, Oklahoma --  The Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks split a doubleheader with Vernon (TX) Tuesday at USAO.

NOC (11-4-1) won the night cap 7-5 after dropping the first game 4-1.

Vernon 4, Mavs 1

NOC managed just four hits in a 4-1 loss to Vernon (TX) on Tuesday.

Joey Pena had two hits for the Mavs and one run scored on a single by Ashton Francis.

Seth Martin took the loss allowing two earned runs over 4.2 innings of work.

Mavs 7, Vernon 5

The Mavs broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the 9th to beat Vernon 7-5.

in the 9th, Ben MacNaughton and Joey Pena singled and both scored on an error off the bat of Cacy Harper.

Kirby Lohrengel (1-0) earned the win out of the Mavs bullpen tossing three innings of two-hit relief.  

MacNaughton and Pena had two hits each while Dominick Trevino had three rbi's.

Ethan Wilson was the starter allowing five runs in six innings.
