Mavs win three in season opening series

The Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks won three of four against Ellsworth (Iowa) in the Mavs season opener this past weekend.  They tied the final game of the four game set Sunday.

NOC (3-0-1) scored 60 runs in the four game set while allowing 28.  Ellsworth dropped to 2-4-1.

Five Mavs went deep in the series including Cale Francis, Dominick Trevino, Joey Pena, Eric Gutierrez, and Ashton Francis.

In a series of offensive stars, Pena led the Mavs with 10 hits in the four game set driving home five runs.  Ben MacNaughton had nine hits from the leadoff spot scoring nine runs and stealing five bases.

Eric Gutierrez had eight hits and 12 runs batted in.  Luke Quick added seven hits while scoring six runs.  Cale Francis had six hits and drove in nine runs.

On the mound, the Mavs picked up wins from Tyler Kisner, Seth Martin, and Zach Stephenson.
