Mavs drop tourney opener to Redlands

ENID, Oklahoma -- NOC Tonkawa's quest for a Region II title took a hit Thursday as the Mavs lost to Redlands 5-2 in the first round of the OG&E Region II Division 2 Baseball Tournament at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid.

NOC (42-14-1) dropped to the loser's bracket against Carl Albert at noon Friday.

The Mavs saw themselves with a 4-0 deficit in the fifth before Cacy Harper's 16th home run put NOC on the board.  Redlands then built the lead to 5-1 before Tanner Long's 10th home run cut the lead to 5-2 in the seventh.

Long's blast led off the seventh and after Dominick Trevino's single, Harper hit into a double play.  Austin Glock and Kade Marlatt then singled but Eric Gutierrez fouled out to end the inning.

NOC would mount one final threat against Redlands in the ninth as Harper and Glock each walked against Cougar starter Ryan Hildener but Dakota Jones came in and got Marlatt and pinch hitter Dylan Lang to end the game.

Trevin Michael started for the Mavs allowing seven hits and three earned runs.  Chase Bridges allowed just one run in 4.2 innings out of the Mavs bullpen.
