Mavs sweep Carl Albert

POTEAU, Oklahoma -- NOC baseball won their fourth straight Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of Carl Albert at Poteau.

NOC (40-13-1) won the first game 3-1 in a pitchers dual behind lefthander Angelo Gennari and then used an Austin Glock grand slam to outslug Carl Albert 13-11 in 11 innings.

In Game 1, Gennari was masterful allowing one unearned run on six hits and striking out seven in a seven inning complete game.

NOC scored all three runs in the third inning on a single by Gabe Griffith and  back-to-back doubles by Chris Cloud and Joey Pena.

In Game 2, the Mavs used an Austin Glock grand slam scoring five runs in the ninth turning a 9-6 deficit into an 11-9 lead.  After Carl Albert rallied to tie the game at 11-11, NOC then pushed ahead two runs on a Dylan Lang home run in the 11th to beat the Vikings 13-11.

Griffith had three hits and three runs batted in for the Mavs while Lang had two hits and three rbi's.  Tanner Long and Dominick Trevino had two hits each.  Eric Gutierrez also added three hits.

Tyler Kisner earned the win with three innings of relief.

NOC hosts Carl Albert in a doubleheader Saturday.  The games will be played at Ponca City High School starting at 3 p.m.

The Mavs are now 9-9 in conference play.
