Mavs drop two one run games to Redlands

EL RENO, Oklahoma—The NOC Mavericks dropped two one run games to Redlands Thursday in El Reno.

NOC (35-10-1) lost Game 1 in extra innings 5-4 and the second game 3-2.

In Game 1, the Mavs built a 4-1 lead into the seventh.  Dominick Trevino's fourth inning single scored Chris Cloud to tie that game at 1-1.  In the fifth, Kris Perez tripled and scored on a Kade Marlatt single and NOC Led 2-1.  Then in the sixth Joey Pena doubled and later stole home, later in the inning Eric Gutierrez singled home Gabe Griffith and NOC led 4-1.

Redlands then rallied for three in the seventh to tie the game at 4-4.

Redlands then pushed across the winning run in the ninth to win 5-4.

Marlatt, Cloud and Pena had two hits each for NOC.  Jack Edmunson started for the Mavs allowing two earned runs on seven hits.  Chase Bridges took the loss out of the Mav bullpen allowing one unearned run on one hit.

In Game 2, NOC jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Tanner Long and Eric Gutierrez singled to lead off the second.  Rhett Rutledge then singled home Long and Gutierrez later scored on an error.

Redlands would answer with two runs in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead and then hold on for the win.

NOC had base runners in the final two innings but couldn't score against the Redlands bullpen.

Cloud had two of NOC's five hits.

Mavs starter Jack Edmunson allowed three runs in five innings of work, all the runs were unearned.
