Mavs, Jets split doubleheader Sunday at Enid

ENID, Oklahoma -- The  #13 NOC Mavs earned a split with #5 NOC Enid Sunday night in Enid winning 9-1 after losing the first game 7-4.

The Mavs (33-7-1) are now 4-4 in conference play after winning the series against the NOC Enid Jets (33-8).  The Jets are also 4-4 in conference play after the Mavs won the series between the NOC's.

In Game 2, starter Angelo Gennari tamed the Jets bats going six innings allowing one run on just five hits striking out nine.

Gennari received plenty of support with four runs in the second and then five runs in the ninth.

Joey Pena had three hits while Eric Gutierrez had two hits.  Dominick Trevino and Rhett Rutledge had two rbi's each.  Trevino and Gabe Griffith scored two runs each.

Chase Bridges tossed three innings of two-hit relief to close out the Jets.

In Game 1, the Jets earned some revenge after dropping two games to the Mavs last Thursday.

NOC Enid scored in the first four innings to build a 7-1 lead and then withstood a late Mavs rally to win 7-4.

Tyler Wood cracked a 3-run homer for the Jets while EJ Taylor had two hits including a double and two runs batted in.

Korde Busby started for the Mavs allowing seven runs on seven hits.

Braxton Douthit went the distance for the Jets allowing eight hits and three earned runs.  Douthit fanned five Mav hitters in tossing the complete game.
