5th ranked Mavs sweep Hesston, continue hot streak

The 5th ranked NOC Tonkawa Mavericks continued their hot streak winning their 16th straight in a double header sweep of Hesston Community College Saturday at NOC.

The wins improved the NOC record to 23-1.

In a Game 1 10-0 run rule win, Jack Edmunson tossed three hits shutout allowing just three hits in five innings of work striking out four.  On the season, Edmunson (5-0) has a 1.80 ERA and 31 strike outs in six starts.

Edmunson had plenty of support from a 12 hit attack led by leadoff hitter Kade Marlatt who had three hits and three rbi's.  Cacy Harper, Tanner Long and Rhett Rutledge had two hits each.  Rutledge added two rbi's for the Mavs. In the Game 2 11-1 win, the Mavs pounded 11 hits led by Long's three hit, three rbi day.  Pena had two hits and two rbi's for the Mavs.

Korde Busby (3-0) started for the Mavs allowing just one unearned run in four innings striking out three.  Busby was backed by Kendel Foster, Chase Bridges and Long who tossed one scoreless inning each.
