Mavs sweep Pratt Sunday in Ponca City

The NOC Mavericks swept Pratt in a double header Sunday in Ponca City improving to 12-1 on the season.

The Mavs beat Pratt in a 4-1 pitcher's duel in Game 1 and then outslugged Pratt 15-9 in the night cap.

In Game 1, the Mavs trailed Pratt 1-0 when the Mavs tied the score on a one-out single by Joey Pena scoring Kristopher Perez.

NOC took the lead in the 6th when the Mavs scored three runs with two outs.

Eric Gutierrez was hit by a pitch, stole second and later scored on an infield hit by Perez.  Perez then scored on a Pratt error giving the Mavs a 3-1 lead.  Chris Cloud then doubled home Kade Marlatt and the Mavs led 4-1.

Trevin Michael (3-1) started for the Mavs allowing one run on three hits in six innings of work.  Kendel Foster and Chase Bridges then closed the door on Pratt combining for two strikeouts in the 7th.  Bridges earned the save for the Mavs.

In Game 2, the Mavs played long ball with four home runs.  Kade Marlatt cranked two for the Mavs while Joey Pena and Cacy Harper had one each.

Marlatt had six rbi's for the Mavs while Pena, Tanner Long, Eric Gutirrez and Kris Perez had two rbi's each.

Harper led the Mavs with three hits as NOC pounded 15 hits in the second game.

Jack Edmunson was the starter for the Mavs with help from four Mav relievers.  Kendel Foster (1-0) earned the win for the Mavs.

NOC and Pratt were tied 9-9 until the Mavs exploded for six runs in the 6th to take a 15-9  lead.  Harper had a solo shot and Marlatt had a three run blast in that six run Mav uprising.  Long added a two-run double.
