Indian Hills (5-2) hosts the Mavericks of NOC – Tonkawa (4-3) Tuesday night for game No. 2 of the Warriors' nine-game homestand at the Hellyer Center.

STARTING FIVE

  • The Warriors climbed two spots to No. 11 in the national rankings Monday, earning 200 points from the NJCAA DI Men's Basketball Committee.
  • Sophomore Trevion LaBeaux, last week's ICCAC Athlete of the Week, has posted four double-doubles on the year and is one of just four individuals in the nation to currently average at least 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest while shooting at least 54.0 percent from the field.
  • Four different players have led the Warriors in scoring through the team's first seven games this year while five individuals are currently averaging double-figures.
  • Braden Sparks has hit the fourth-most three-point shots in the nation for players currently shooting 57.0 percent or better from three-point range.
  • Tuesday's game marks the Warriors' seventh different opponent from a different state this year - Nebraska, Missouri, Florida, Alabama, Indiana, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

LAST TIME OUT

Indian Hills is fresh off its largest victory of the year, a 96-71 victory at the Hellyer Center over Kansas City Kansas Community College on November 21. The Warriors were led by Trevion LaBaeux's fourth double-double of the year with 18 points and 13 rebounds. 

The Warriors used their most efficient shooting performance of the year with a 59.1 percent clip (39-66), including a 39.1 percent mark from three-point range.

SERIES HISTORY

The Warriors and Mavericks have met just twice before, both times in Ottumwa.

  • November 17, 2017 – #6 Indian Hills 83, NOC-Tonkawa 75
    • In the first-ever meeting, the Warriors rallied to knock off the Mavericks 83-75 as part of the Bowling RV Classic at the Hellyer Center behind a team-high 23 points from Shane Gatling
  • December 15, 2018 – #18 Indian Hills 100, NOC-Tonkawa 81
    • Tomas Woldetensae scored a game-high 24 points on six three-point shots at the Hy-Vee Classic in the second meeting between the two teams.
  • Indian Hills is 14-1 all-time against teams from the state of Oklahoma.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS

NOC – Tonkawa makes the trek to Ottumwa having dropped its most recent contest and are just 1-2 over the team's last three outings, but climbed one spot in this week's national poll to No. 24.

  • Tuesday night will mark the Mavericks' seventh consecutive contest against teams that have appeared in the national rankings this year.
  • The Mavericks dropped a 79-64 contest to Cowley Community College (KS) on November 15 after upending No. 16 Hutchinson Community College (KS) 89-86 on November 11.
  • NOC-Tonkawa's signature win came against then-No. 7 Midland College (TX), a 75-65 victory on November 6.
  • Javontae Campbell, last week's national player of the week, leads the way for the Mavericks with 28.3 points per game, second-most in the nation, while the sophomore's 4.0 steals/game ranks fourth in the NJCAA.
  • NOC-Tonkawa averages 26.4 free throw attempts per contest, the 25th-best mark in the NJCAA.
  • The Mavericks are forcing 15.6 turnovers per game.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Warriors' homestand continues with the RV & Power Sport Classic this weekend. Indian Hills will welcome national power and No. 2 nationally ranked South Plains College (TX) Friday night before taking on the defending NJCAA national champion John A. Logan College (IL) Saturday night. Both games are set for a 7:00 PM tip-off while South Plains and Sauk Valley Community College will matchup at 5:00 PM Saturday.
