Beavers Sweep NOC-Tonkawa At Home

The Beaver softball team was back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 20 against the Nothern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Mavericks. The team faced off for a two games series at Angood Field in Lemon Park. The Beavers emerged victorious in both games 5-4 and 7-6 to pick up their first two wins and series sweep of the season.  

Game One Recap 

The game started off with the Mavericks taking an early lead, scoring 2 runs in the first inning. However, Pratt fought back and held Northern Oklahoma scoreless until the sixth inning when they added another run. In the bottom of the sixth, Pratt Community College exploded for 5 runs, taking the lead, and securing the win. 

Key players for Pratt Community College included Kaylee Smith, who had 2 RBIs, and Yolanda Aguirre and Erica Hornback, who each contributed with RBIs as well. Pitcher Gabbi Everitt had an impressive performance, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits with 2 strikeouts over 7 innings. 

Game Two Recap 

The game started with Northern Oklahoma taking another early lead, scoring one run in the first inning and three runs in the second inning. The Beavers fought back, scoring three runs in the third inning, one run in the fourth inning, two runs in the sixth inning, and one run in the seventh inning to secure the win. 

Pratt's Elysia Marquez had an impressive performance at the plate, going 4 for 4 with three RBIs. Kaylee Smith also contributed with a key RBI, while Savannah Frank had a productive day with two RBIs. On the pitching side, Taygann Spencer of Pratt Community College went the distance, pitching all seven innings and allowing six runs on 12 hits with three walks and one strikeout.

The Beavers will host Lamar Community College on Monday, Feb. 26. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Angood Field.
